Lucknow, May 7 (KNN) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has advocated the construction of flatted factory complexes to boost the state’s MSME sector, highlighting their efficiency in housing multiple manufacturing units within limited space.
He emphasised the critical role of the MSME sector in the state’s economy, noting that it contributes approximately 46 percent to Uttar Pradesh’s total exports and generates direct and indirect employment for over 1.65 crore people.
“With close to 96 lakh units, Uttar Pradesh has the largest MSME base in the country. Youth engaged in the sector, or aspiring entrepreneurs under the MYUVA scheme, must receive comprehensive and high-quality training before being granted loans,” the Chief Minister said during a departmental review on Tuesday.
He also stated that aspiring entrepreneurs should receive instruction in packaging, branding, and marketing to enhance their competitiveness in global markets.
In the current financial year 2024–25, over 321,000 youth have registered under the Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneur Campaign (CMYEC), with more than 56,000 applications received.
The Chief Minister has directed officials to meet the target of disbursing loans to 100,000 youth under the scheme.
While reviewing the “One District One Product” (ODOP) initiative, CM Adityanath noted that the program has played a pivotal role in revitalising traditional crafts and small industries across the state.
Since its launch in 2018, margin money totaling Rs 635 crore has been distributed to support these enterprises.
Uttar Pradesh has successfully secured Geographical Indication (GI) tags for 77 products, with applications pending for 25 more.
The department aims to obtain GI certification for an additional 75 products during the current financial year.
