Suzlon Energy Limited has secured a third order of 204.75 MW from Jindal Green Wind 1 Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Jindal Renewables, the company announced today in a stock exchange filing.

This latest deal expands their partnership to a cumulative capacity of 907.20 MW, making it Suzlon’s largest Commercial & Industrial (C&I) order to date.

The shares of Suzlon Energy Limited were trading at ₹50.95 up by ₹1.17 or 2.35 per cent on the NSE today at 10.20 am.

The new order involves supplying 65 S144 wind turbine generators with Hybrid Lattice Towers, each with a 3.15 MW capacity, which will be installed in the Karur region of Tamil Nadu. The generated power will be used for captive consumption at Jindal Steel’s plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, furthering the company’s decarbonization efforts.

This follows two previous orders totaling 702.45 MW of wind energy capacity for the same steel plants. C&I customers now represent 59 per cent of Suzlon’s order book, which has reached a record 5.9 GW, the highest in the company’s history.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, emphasized the partnership’s role in advancing India’s steel decarbonization, stating they are “expanding the Low CO₂ Steel movement to Tamil Nadu.”

Bharat Saxena, President of Jindal Renewables, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to leading the decarbonization movement in India’s steel industry and becoming “the largest de-carbonisation solution provider.”

JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, highlighted the company’s expertise in providing renewable energy solutions for hard-to-abate sectors like steel manufacturing.

Jindal Renewables is currently developing nearly 3 GW of renewable assets and aims to develop approximately 12 GW of renewable energy assets, storage facilities, and green hydrogen production by 2030.

Suzlon Group, headquartered in Pune, has installed approximately 20.9 GW of wind energy capacity across 17 countries and manages about 15 GW of assets in India with an additional 6 GW installed internationally.
