Coimbatore, May 15 (KNN) The ninth edition of SUBCON 2025, a sub-contracting expo aimed at connecting Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) with large industries, was inaugurated on Wednesday in Coimbatore.

Vanitha Mohan, Chairperson, Pricol, officially opened the three-day event organised by the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA).

The exhibition features 17 large industries and 230 MSMEs showcasing their products across 250 stalls. Participation has increased by 8-10% compared to the previous year, with exhibitors from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, and Telangana.

Organisers expect more than 10,000 visitors to attend over the three days, with attendance likely to peak on Saturday and Sunday.

According to J. Sanjeevi Kumar, Chairman, SUBCON 2025, the expo provides a valuable opportunity for MSME owners to secure orders without traveling to other cities, particularly important as Coimbatore’s engineering sector experiences a slowdown.

He noted that approximately 60 per cent of MSMEs in Coimbatore currently serve as indirect suppliers to large industries, but the expo offers them pathways to become direct suppliers and develop value-added products.

“If the MSME unit has a quality product, it can become a direct supplier to a large unit without any hassle,” Kumar stated.

The event has received support from several government bodies including the Ministry of MSME, PPDC, NSIC, FaMeTN, COSISSIA Defence Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre (CDIIC), NITI Aayog and Atal Innovation Mission (AIM).
