Secretary Defence Production Meets Start-ups & MSMEs To Collaborate For Critical Technologies

New Delhi, Mar 27 (KNN) In a significant move to foster innovation and technological advancement, the Department of Defence Production conducted comprehensive deliberations with representatives from over 50 start-ups and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on March 24 and 25, 2025, at South Block in New Delhi.

The high-level meeting, chaired by Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar, focused on understanding the challenges faced by innovative technology ventures and identifying potential opportunities for collaboration in critical technological domains. 

Participants engaged in substantive discussions covering a wide spectrum of emerging technologies, including Space Technologies, Quantum Technologies, Electronic Warfare, Drones, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Radar Technologies, Cyber Security, and Advanced Materials.

Most of the participating start-ups and MSMEs are actively associated with Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), a platform designed to nurture technological innovation in the defence sector. 

The sessions provided a crucial platform for exploring potential civil and defence applications of cutting-edge technologies.

Secretary Kumar emphasised the strategic importance of these dialogues, noting that the insights gathered would be instrumental in refining governmental policies and procedures. 

He highlighted the ministry’s commitment to encouraging wider participation from start-ups working in deep technological fields, recognising their potential to drive technological innovation in national defence and strategic sectors.

The comprehensive discussions are expected to pave the way for more collaborative and supportive ecosystem for technology-driven start-ups in India’s defence innovation landscape.
