Bhopal, Feb 25 (KNN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025 in Bhopal on Monday, highlighting textiles, tourism, and technology as three pivotal sectors that will propel India’s future economic growth.

During his address, the Prime Minister emphasised that these sectors would generate millions of new employment opportunities across the country.

In his speech, PM Modi noted India’s significant position in the textile industry, stating, “India is the second-largest producer of cotton. Madhya Pradesh is known as the cotton capital, and 25 per cent of India’s organic cotton supply comes from MP.”

This recognition underscores the state’s crucial role in India’s textile sector.

The Prime Minister criticised previous administrations for undermining the potential of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which he claimed had impeded the development of India’s local supply chain.

In contrast, he highlighted that the current government is actively prioritising the growth of MSME-led local supply chains, improving MSME definitions, and implementing credit-linked incentives to strengthen small and medium businesses.

Expressing confidence in India’s economic trajectory, PM Modi affirmed that “the world is optimistic about India.”

He detailed the government’s substantial investments in Madhya Pradesh’s industrial and infrastructure sectors, specifically pointing to the Rs 50,000 crore investment in the Bina Refinery Petrochemical Complex aimed at establishing the state as a significant petrochemical hub.

The Prime Minister elaborated on Madhya Pradesh’s industrial expansion, noting that the state now hosts more than 300 industrial zones.

He added that large-scale investment zones spanning thousands of acres are being developed in Pithampur, Ratlam, and Devas, creating substantial opportunities for investors.

Reflecting on the past decade, PM Modi remarked on India’s unprecedented growth in infrastructure development and the energy sector.

He highlighted increased investments in both renewable and conventional energy sources, which have considerably enhanced the nation’s power capacity.

Addressing water security, which he described as crucial for industrial development, the Prime Minister explained, “On one hand, we are emphasising water conservation, and on the other, we are advancing with the mega mission of river interlinking.”

PM Modi praised Madhya Pradesh’s transformation in the power sector, noting that the state is now power surplus with a 31,000 MW power generation capacity, of which 30 percent comes from clean energy sources.

He specifically mentioned the Rewa Solar Park as one of India’s largest solar projects and highlighted the construction of the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Power Plant as another significant clean energy initiative in the state.

The Global Investors Summit 2025 attracted participation from prominent industrialists, diplomats, and global trade organisations.

PM Modi’s comprehensive address established a framework for transformative investments and strategic partnerships in Madhya Pradesh, further cementing the state’s position as a key investment destination within India.
