Patna, Jun 25 (KNN) Magadh University is scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding on Friday at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, to establish a micro, small and medium enterprises technology centre on its Bodh Gaya campus.
The signing ceremony will take place in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu.
The university’s syndicate approved the proposal during a meeting held on Tuesday.
According to a press release issued by the institution, this marks the first initiative of its kind among state universities in India. The technology centre will operate through a collaborative arrangement with the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
The facility will offer skill development courses alongside diploma and certificate-level programmes across various job-oriented trades.
Vice-Chancellor Shashi Pratap Shahi described the centre as a potential national model for modern technical education, skill development, innovation, startups and research activities.
Shahi stated that the initiative represents a significant step toward positioning Magadh University as a leading institution within India’s national innovation framework.
He emphasised that the centre’s impact will extend beyond Bihar’s youth to benefit students across the country.
The technology centre will provide specialised training in manufacturing and marketing sectors.
The university plans to offer instruction on preserving and promoting local products, including traditional sweets such as anarsa and tilkut produced in Gaya, with objectives to enhance branding and market reach across different states and international markets.
In a separate development, Magadh University is preparing to launch a comprehensive Centre of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence on its campus.
The facility will provide 45-day certificate courses, one-year diploma programmes, and complete undergraduate and postgraduate degree options in artificial intelligence under the science stream. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan is expected to inaugurate the AI centre on July 12.
