Hyderabad, Mar 7 (KNN) Less than three months after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government, Lenskart has begun construction of the world’s largest eyewear manufacturing facility in Tukkuguda, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The new factory, similar to Lenskart’s facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, will be an integrated unit handling frame, lens, and eyewear production.
Designed to serve both domestic and international markets, the facility will enhance Lenskart’s manufacturing capacity to cater to India, Asia, and the Middle East.
Lenskart co-founder Amit Chaudhary led the groundbreaking ceremony in the presence of Telangana Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
The project is expected to create over 2,100 jobs and will span 50 acres. The first phase is set to become operational by the end of 2025, with the plant eventually producing over 200,000 glasses per day.
Lenskart CEO and co-founder Peyush Bansal emphasized the project’s significance, stating, “This facility will not only help meet the growing demand for eyewear but also create new opportunities through technology and innovation.”
The Telangana government highlighted that the investment reinforces the state’s growing status as a hub for global industries.
Minister Sridhar Babu’s office noted that the plant will leverage cutting-edge technology and precision engineering to ensure high-quality production and international trade expansion.
This strategic collaboration between Lenskart and the Telangana government marks a significant step in strengthening India’s position in the global eyewear market.
