New Delhi, Aug 5 (KNN) Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy and Group Head of Corporate Affairs Rajneesh Kumar held meetings with senior government officials on Monday to discuss the e-commerce giant’s initiatives aimed at enhancing small business participation in digital commerce and promoting financial inclusion across India.

The executives met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to present updates on Flipkart’s ongoing efforts to integrate micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), artisans, and small businesses into its digital ecosystem.

These integration efforts span across multiple platforms within the Flipkart ecosystem, including the main Flipkart marketplace, fashion platform Myntra, and travel subsidiary Cleartrip.

The discussions with the Finance Minister also encompassed Flipkart’s financial inclusion programs currently under development through its fintech platform, super.money.

As part of these talks, Flipkart reaffirmed its commitment to redomicile to India, a strategic move that industry observers widely interpret as preparation for a potential public listing in the domestic market.

The Flipkart delegation also met with Pralhad Joshi, who serves as Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy.

These discussions centered on the company’s approach to consumer protection, sustainability initiatives, and its broader contribution to India’s digital economy transformation.

Kumar emphasised the company’s “India First” philosophy in a LinkedIn post following the meetings, stating that Flipkart remains committed to strengthening both supply chain and digital infrastructure while developing comprehensive skilling ecosystems.

The company aims to provide training opportunities for individuals, sellers, and underserved communities while simultaneously creating new employment and livelihood opportunities across the country.

During the meeting with Minister Joshi, Kumar highlighted Flipkart’s consumer-centric policies and its commitment to maintaining fair and transparent business practices.

The discussions focused on key consumer affairs priorities and the company’s systematic approach to addressing customer grievances through what Kumar described as a “customer-first mindset” that emphasises swift and effective resolution mechanisms.

The sustainability aspect of Flipkart’s operations also featured prominently in the discussions.

Kumar outlined the company’s comprehensive environmental initiatives, which include accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles across its logistics network, increasing the utilisation of renewable energy sources, and implementing measures to eliminate single-use plastics throughout its entire supply chain infrastructure.
