Madurai, Mar 29 (KNN) The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Madurai branch organised a discussion on Indian Standards on Wednesday, focusing specifically on medical textiles including bedsheets, pillow covers and blanket specifications.

During the event, S.D. Dayanand, Senior Director and Head of BIS Madurai, emphasised that separate benchmarks and specifications exist for medical textiles used in healthcare facilities.

He highlighted that stringent guidelines must be followed for both single-use and reusable bedsheets and pillow covers in medical settings.

Dayanand noted that specific standards for infection control in medical textiles have been established and urged textile manufacturers to adhere to appropriate specifications when producing medical and bedding textiles.

The discussion saw participation from S.M.S. Sankaralingam, Chief Executive Officer, Karur Textile Manufacturer Exporters Association (KTMEA), and A. Sethupathy, Joint Secretary, KTMEA, who addressed the gathering.

Numerous textile manufacturers and exporters attended the event to gain insights into the standardisation requirements.
