Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, has signed a ₹2,463 crore contract with the Ministry of Defence for the supply and services of indigenous Ashwini Radars to the Indian Air Force, according to a regulatory filing on March 12, 2025.

The fully indigenous AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radars were jointly developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and BEL. The mobile radar systems are designed for deployment across various terrains and can automatically detect and track aerial targets ranging from fighter aircraft to slow-moving targets. They also incorporate advanced ECCM (Electronic Counter-Counter Measures) features.

With this new order, BEL has accumulated contracts worth ₹17,030 crore in the current financial year, strengthening its position in India’s defense manufacturing sector.
