ITI share price rises over 4% as BharatNet Phase-III work begins in Solan

Shares of telecom manufacturing company ITI Ltd jumped 4.08 per cent on the BSE on Wednesday after the announcement of the commencement of operations for the State Network Operations Center (S-NOC) under the BharatNet Phase-III Project at Solan, Himachal Pradesh, in coordination with BSNL.

As part of the project, ITI will connect 3,615 gram panchayats to 91 block headquarters through 10 Gbps bandwidth, which will link to the BSNL IP-MPLS Ring Network. This will further extend connectivity to 15,538 villages across the State. The project involves laying about 20,000 km of optical fiber cable (OFC) throughout Himachal Pradesh. The S-NOC will operate as a centralised hub to monitor and manage the performance, security and availability of the project’s network infrastructure.

Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director, ITI, said, “This project will enable the delivery of high-speed broadband services to rural areas. Once completed, it will enhance connectivity and make Internet services easily accessible in every village, thereby promoting education, healthcare, business and e-governance.”

BharatNet Phase-III

The Government of India launched the BharatNet Phase-III project to connect all gram panchayats across the country to the IP-MPLS Ring Network. The newly-operational S-NOC at Solan will monitor connectivity for all gram panchayats in Himachal Pradesh and facilitate last-mile broadband access.

The company previously was L1 for BharatNet Phase-III project in Himachal Pradesh for Package No 8, and in West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands for Package No 9 with a total order value of ₹5,050 crore.
