US Stock Market LIVE: Wall Street on Friday, April 4, opened lower after China announced that it is set to impose 34 per cent additional tariffs on all imports from the United States in retaliation to US President Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariff announcement.

Investor fears rise for a potential escalation of a trade war between the United States and other nations.

The S&P 500 lost 134.05 points, or 2.48%, to 5,262.47 points, while the Nasdaq Composite lost 473.16 points, or 2.86%, to 16,077.44. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 994.46 points, or 2.45%, to 39,551.47.
