New Delhi, Mar 25 (KNN) The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has introduced a groundbreaking sub-scheme under the Central Sector Scheme Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance Program (RAMP), named the MSME Trade Enablement and Marketing (MSME TEAM) Initiative during the FY 2024-25.

Launched on June 27, 2024, the initiative represents a strategic approach to propelling micro and small enterprises into the digital marketplace, with a particular emphasis on women entrepreneurs.

The scheme’s primary objective is to leverage Digital Public Infrastructure, specifically the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), to expand digital commerce opportunities for MSMEs across the country.

With a financial allocation of Rs 27.35 crores, the initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting small businesses in navigating the digital economy.

To ensure comprehensive and effective implementation, the Ministry of MSME has appointed the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) as the implementing agency for the TEAM Scheme.

The corporation is actively conducting workshops in collaboration with state governments, union territories, industry bodies, and ONDC to generate awareness about the benefits of e-commerce and facilitate the onboarding of MSMEs onto ONDC-compliant Seller Network Participants (SNPs).

The strategic focus on women entrepreneurs underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive economic development.

By providing targeted support for digital commerce capabilities, the initiative aims to create new economic opportunities for women-led businesses, traditionally underrepresented in the digital marketplace.

This initiative arrives at a critical juncture when digital commerce is rapidly transforming business landscapes.

By connecting MSMEs with broader digital platforms, the government is creating pathways for small businesses to expand their market reach, improve visibility, and compete more effectively in an increasingly digital economic environment.

The MSME TEAM Initiative represents a forward-looking approach to economic empowerment, combining technological infrastructure, targeted support, and a commitment to inclusive growth.

As small businesses continue to be the backbone of India’s economic ecosystem, such initiatives play a crucial role in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic resilience.
