Pune, Mar 21 (KNN) The Patent Office is currently reviewing 75,000 patent applications and has experienced a 25 per cent increase in patent and design filings, according to Ashish Prabhat, Assistant Controller of Patents & Designs.

Speaking at the second national intellectual property (IP) yatra inaugurated in Pune on Wednesday, Prabhat noted that the patent process now concludes within six months, representing a positive trend.

The event was organised by the AIC Pinnacle Entrepreneurship Forum in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), aiming to create opportunities for innovative entrepreneurs to connect with industries and accelerate intellectual property commercialisation.

“Over the past year, our department has reached over 10 lakh young innovators,” Prabhat stated.

Abhay Dhaptadar, Cluster Development Officer, emphasised that start-ups require structured guidance, financial support, and intellectual property protection to successfully commercialise their innovations.

Other notable attendees included Arihant Mehta, President, Pinnacle Industries; Dennis Bevers, Technology Transfer Officer, VDL Group; Maitreyee Kamble, National Convenor, DICCI; and Sunil Dhadiwal, CEO, AIC Pinnacle Entrepreneurship Forum.

Arihant Mehta highlighted India’s economic potential, stating, “India is a trillion-dollar economy. The economic growth has a lot of gains for the MSME sector in India. Industry, today, is global in the true sense.

On one hand, Indian companies are looking at foreign markets, while on the other, foreign companies are looking at India as a big opportunity. IPR, technology transfer and commercialisation have a big role to play in years to come.”

The event featured a series of sessions, panel discussions, and workshops focused on international IPR filing, technology transfer mechanisms, and commercialisation of innovations.

Over 120 participants from industry, professional circles, and academia actively participated in the proceedings.
