NTPC Limited and its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) signed multiple agreements worth ₹96,000 crore with the Chhattisgarh government on March 10, 2025. The deals were finalised during the Chhattisgarh Energy Investors’ Summit-2025 in Raipur.

The largest investment involves ₹80,000 crore for a 4,200 MW nuclear power plant. NTPC will also partner with the Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Ltd (CSPGCL) to develop a 1,200 MW pumped hydro storage project at Sikaser in Gariyaband district, with an investment of ₹5,876 crore.

Additionally, NGEL and CSPGCL have formed a joint venture to establish renewable energy projects up to 2 GW capacity in the state, requiring approximately Rs 10,000 crore investment. These renewable projects will help CSPGCL meet its Renewable Generation Obligation (RGO) and support the state’s distribution company in fulfilling its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO).

The agreements were signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, and other state officials. NTPC was represented by senior executives, including Pradipta Kumar Mishra, Regional Executive Director, and Prasenjit Pal, Executive Director (Nuclear).
