Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory, a subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons Limited (JWL), has secured a ₹255 crore order from Braithwait & Co. for 9,140 railway wheelsets, the company announced on Thursday.

The shares of Jupiter Wagons Limited (JWL) were trading at ₹301.90 down by ₹5.90 or 1.92 per cent on the NSE today at 10.05 am.

The contract, for 840 mm diameter wheelsets designed for 25-ton axle load applications, boosts the company’s total order book to ₹560 crore.

JWL is constructing a new manufacturing facility in Odisha that will increase its annual production capacity from 20,000 to 100,000 forged wheelsets. The ₹2,500 crore expansion project aims to reduce India’s dependence on imported railway components.

According to the company’s timeline, axle production at the new facility will begin by December 2026, with complete wheel and axle production operational by December 2027.

“This order underscores the trust in Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory’s manufacturing excellence,” said Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Wagons Limited.

The company has targeted ₹600 crore in revenue from its wheel business for the fiscal year 2026, nearly doubling its current contribution.

Additionally, Jupiter Electric Mobility, JWL’s commercial EV division, plans to launch its JEM TEZ vehicle on March 3 in Indore as part of the company’s diversification into sustainable transportation solutions.
