New Delhi, July 18 (KNN) The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) showcased its digital initiative, Trade Connect, at two major B2B trade exhibitions this month, aiming to boost awareness and adoption of the platform among Indian exporters, particularly MSMEs.
DGFT participated in the 71st India International Garment Fair (IIGF), held from July 1 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in Dwarka, New Delhi.
Inaugurated by the Minister of State for Textiles and External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, the fair hosted over 360 Indian apparel exporters and attracted buyers from 79 countries, including the UK, France, Germany, and Italy.
During his visit to the DGFT booth, the minister commended the Trade Connect platform for its role in empowering MSME exporters with credible trade information and connectivity tools.
In addition, DGFT showcased Trade Connect at the 16th Toy Biz International B2B Expo, organised by the Toy Association of India from July 4–7 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The event featured over 400 Indian toy brands. Live demonstrations were conducted to illustrate how the platform facilitates access to verified international buyers, regulatory information, and global market entry support.
Trade Connect is a flagship digital platform designed to serve as a comprehensive hub for international trade information and services.
It brings together Indian Missions abroad, Export Promotion Councils, Commodity Boards, DGFT and Department of Commerce officials to provide cohesive support to exporters.
The platform offers up-to-date information on tariffs, certifications, global trade events, eCommerce opportunities, and buyer databases in a user-friendly format.
It also provides multilingual interactive courses to introduce MSMEs to export procedures.
Moreover, Trade Connect acts as a unified digital system for the issuance and verification of preferential and non-preferential Certificates of Origin, enabling a paperless and secure transaction process in coordination with all authorised issuing agencies.
DGFT plans to continue its outreach through Trade Connect at upcoming flagship events such as World Food India 2025 in New Delhi and the India International Jewellery Show in Mumbai.
