New Delhi, Jun 10 (KNN) The Quality Council of India (QCI) marked World Accreditation Day 2025 on Monday with the launch of a revamped portal for the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
The initiative aims to streamline accreditation processes and improve digital accessibility for laboratories and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
This year’s theme, ‘Accreditation: Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs),’ highlighted the strategic importance of accreditation in enhancing competitiveness, market access, and credibility for MSMEs.
The event commenced with leadership messages and the release of a thematic video, establishing a foundation for discussions on quality, innovation, and sustainable growth within the MSME sector.
The celebration featured ‘Gunvatta Samarpan,’ an initiative encouraging organisations to publicly commit to adhering to accredited standards across various sectors. This program demonstrates industry-wide dedication to maintaining quality standards.
Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), addressed the gathering by emphasising accreditation’s crucial role in enabling Indian SMEs to access domestic and international markets.
He noted that certification and assessment bodies are fundamental to achieving the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047 by maintaining quality standards, supporting exports, and promoting inclusive and sustainable growth.
In his keynote address, QCI Chairperson Jaxay Shah described accreditation as a gateway to global trust. He stressed its significance in helping MSMEs align with international standards, reduce rejection rates, increase productivity, and access new markets.
The inaugural session was followed by a Technical Session and concurrent CEO Forum, where experts discussed how accreditation can drive MSME growth across various sectors.
Panel discussions covered accreditation’s role in improving diagnostic infrastructure, facilitating international trade, supporting certified management systems and products, promoting third-party inspections, advancing sustainable manufacturing, and contributing to net-zero objectives.
World Accreditation Day, observed globally on June 9 each year, emphasises the role of accreditation in strengthening quality infrastructure, enabling global trade, and fostering economic development.
This year’s celebration by QCI reinforced accreditation as an essential enabler of innovation, competitiveness, and growth for India’s small businesses in an increasingly interconnected global economy.
