MSEDCL Warns Farmers About Fake Calls in Solar Pump Scheme

Mumbai, May 8 (KNN) The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has issued a warning to farmers about fraudulent calls related to the ‘Magel Tyala Saur Krishi Pump’ scheme, which provides solar agricultural pumps on demand.

The scheme, which allows farmers to get solar pumps by paying only a part of the cost, has received an enthusiastic response. However, MSEDCL officials say that some farmers have recently been duped by fraudsters asking for additional payments in return for priority installation.

Dnyaneshwar Ardad, public relations officer for the MSEDCL Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar zone, said, “The process is fully online and transparent. Farmers must not trust anyone demanding extra money after registration. Once they pay their share while enrolling, no further payment is required.”

As per the scheme details, farmers pay only 10 per cent of the cost, while the central government provides a 30 per cent subsidy and the state government covers 60 per cent. For Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe farmers, the beneficiary share is reduced to just 5 per cent.

MSEDCL has urged farmers to stay vigilant and avoid falling victim to such scams. If anyone receives suspicious calls, they are advised to contact the toll-free helplines: 1800 233 3435 or 1800 212 3435.

The power utility emphasizes that the pump installation is carried out strictly in order of registration, and no shortcuts or priority installations are allowed through unofficial payments.

Farmers are encouraged to report fraud attempts and rely only on official communication from MSEDCL to ensure their safety and benefit from the scheme.
