Share prices of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., IndusInd Bank Ltd., State Bank of India, and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. emerged as the top gainers on Friday.
Among the laggards were shares of Nestlé India Ltd., NTPC Ltd., Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., Titan Company Ltd., and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
The BSE Sensex advanced 259.75 points or 0.32 per cent to close at 80,501.99, while the NSE Nifty edged up 12.50 points or 0.05 per cent to settle at 24,346.70. The broader market showed signs of fatigue after touching fresh highs, with profit-booking seen in FMCG and utility stocks.

Adani Ports led the gainers, jumping 4.11 per cent to ₹1,267.05 amid sustained optimism following its strong quarterly results.
Bajaj Finance gained 2.62 per cent to end at ₹8,862.25, supported by upbeat investor sentiment around financial stocks.
IndusInd Bank rose 1.65 per cent to close at ₹852.25, while SBI added 1.51 per cent to finish at ₹800.05.
Maruti Suzuki rounded out the top five with a 1.21 per cent gain, ending the session at ₹12,409.20.
Top Losers
Nestlé India was the biggest loser of the day, falling 2.04 per cent to ₹2,336.80 on concerns over rural demand softness.
NTPC declined 1.61 per cent to ₹348.80, while Kotak Mahindra Bank slipped 1.36 per cent to ₹2,175.90.
Titan Company shed 1.09 per cent to end at ₹3,339.35.
Power Grid closed 0.85 per cent lower at ₹304.05.
Banking and auto stocks provided key support to the market, while FMCG and utilities witnessed pressure. Analysts note that investors are likely taking a cautious stance ahead of major macroeconomic data releases and earnings updates next week.
