Addressing the 7th Intellectual Property and Innovation Researchers of Asia (IPIRA) Conference held on 4-6 April at Waseda University in Tokyo, WTO Deputy Director-General Johanna Hill underscored the vital connection between global trade and intellectual property. “Innovation does not flourish in isolation,” she said in her online address. “It thrives in a connected world, one in which ideas, people, and products move across borders and in which collaboration is crucial.”
